6 Fantastic Things To Do In Falmouth Mass

Whether you go alone, with a group of friends, or with family, there are so many exciting things to do in Falmouth Mass. Even when you only have one day, spend some time exploring this lovely town. Trust me, you won’t be sorry that you did!

Enjoy One Of Falmouth Beaches

What is the best thing to do in a coastal town? Spending a day sunbathing on the beach and relaxing under the sun, of course! Families will enjoy Bristol Beach’s vast stretches of soft white sand and gentle waves.

Among all the beaches, Old Silver Beach is the most well-known for both tourists and the locals. Personally, this is one of the Cape’s most gorgeous beaches. According to tourists, Old Silver Beach possesses a European vibe that they always long for. However, it is often crowded. You will have to arrive early if you want to secure your family a spot. There are also snack bars and clean restrooms.

If you enjoy somewhere quieter, you can visit Wood Neck, Falmouth Heights, or Chapoquoit “Chappy”. Each of these beaches offers something unique: The Wood Neck beach is a family-favorite thanks to its sandbars and tidal pools, while you can enjoy the Fourth of July fireworks from the Falmouth Heights. What’s more, The British Beer Company is not far from Falmouth Heights, so you can treat yourself to some drinks after a day full of fun in the sun. Chapoquoit “Chappy” is a popular surfing destination, and because the tide dips steadily, it is great for all swimmers as well.

Visit Wood Hole Science Aquarium

Looking for some fun things to do in Falmouth Mass with the children? Take them to the Woods Hole Science Aquarium. Founded in 1885, it is the oldest aquarium in the United States.

Despite being smaller than other aquariums, Woods Hole Science Aquarium is an excellent spot to learn about local marine species. There, you can discover more than 140 different species that live in the seas of the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic.

The seals are fed twice a day, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., in the outdoor display. Your kids will have a blast watching this. In addition, the “touch tank,” where children may reach into the tidal pools and touch starfish, crabs, or lobsters will be a huge hit with them.

If you’re in the mood for a day of learning and exploration, this is a terrific place to start!

Things To Do In Falmouth Mass – Take A Hike Out To The Knob

Though not well-known among tourists, The Knob is a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours in tranquility with your loved ones. If you never heard of it before, I highly recommend exploring this sanctuary.

Lying in the charming village of Woods Hole, The Knob is a narrow neck of rocky beaches and sandy pines. It attracts visitors with a magnificent sunset view over Buzzards Bay’s open waters. If the weather is fine, you may see as far as West Island and New Bedford Harbor across the Bay.

The Knob’s appeal extends beyond the stunning view it offers. This piece of land is the safe home to Quissett Harbor, a popular boating site on Cape Cod. On sunny days, visitors of all ages can go to The Knob to swim, sunbathe, and explore the shoreline.

So beautiful :))

For more than a century now, the Nobska Lighthouse has stood as a symbol of Cape Cod’s maritime heritage. It is located on Cape Cod’s southwestern tip and Nobska Road separates it from the coast.

The lighthouse was constructed in 1826. In 1876, the tower was replaced with what is currently a 12.8m (42ft) high iron tower. Upon the retirement of the last lightkeeper in 1985, the system was fully automated. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

You will be awed by how unique and beautiful the building’s design is. Also, don’t miss out on the spiral staircase inside. This fascinating and detailed feature is definitely worthy of a photograph!

Things To Do In Falmouth Mass – Get Out And Ride!

Falmouth is home to the Shining Sea trail, which embraces the coast from Falmouth to Woods Hole and then beyond to North Falmouth. It makes for a 10.7-mile bikeway that’s suitable for casual and beginning bikers.

The trail begins at the Steamship Authority ferry station in Woods Hole and winds its way past some of Falmouth’s most beautiful sights. Along the way, you can see cranberry bogs, Chapoquoit Beach, and the Sippewissett Salt Marsh. The journey down the Shining Sea Bikeway is sure to be a highlight of your trip.

One of my most favorite things to do in Falmouth Mass is to visit Cape Cod Winery. For youngsters who want to have a “Date Night”, this is a great option.

The Cape Cod Winery is a rustic vineyard and winery located on Oxbow Road, which is less than 3 miles from the shore. It offers nine options of excellent wines for you to taste. All of them are handcrafted right here and guaranteed to provide you with a sense of serenity you can only find in Cape Cod. You can also order crackers, salami, and cheese to accompany your wine.

After over 10 years in the field, I've learned enough about the "business" of travel to pass along some precious insights to other globetrotters. You can call me a seasoned-world traveler or an "off-the-grid" pioneer, as I've actually dabbled in both. Traveling is part of my whole life; thus, I go out of town at least once a month for new getaways. Hopefully, all tips and tactics I've picked up along the way can help anyone as enthusiastic about exploring the globe as I am.
